Attendance Criteria
Our application process is designed to promote equity and fairness, applying a standardized minimum qualification criteria to all applicants.
Qualifying Criteria:
Alignment with NARIX values and mission
Attendees should be aligned with NARIX’s values and our mission of fostering the development and growth of in-person, local rope communities. Attendees need not be current educators, organizers, or venue managers, but should be interested in participating in expanding the resources and offerings in their local area in the future and attending NARIX to build their capacity to do so.
In addition, attendees should agree to adhere to NARIX’s code of conduct.
Technical Qualifications:
All attendees should be experienced with suspension bondage and have good judgment and good communication and risk management skills.
Tops must have solid upline management skills. They should be able to reliably tie a single column tie and harnesses for the chest, hips, and legs.
Bottoms must have good body awareness and understanding of how their body behaves when in rope. They should be able to perform nerve checks while in the air.
Self tiers must have all the qualifications expected of both tops and bottoms, as well as the ability to strategically manage uplines with consideration for the energy it takes to lower themselves to the ground.
Disqualifying Criteria:
Attendees may be disqualified from attending NARIX if the steering committee believes they:
are not in alignment with NARIX values,
are at significant risk of causing harm at NARIX, or
are likely to be disruptive to the event.
If an applicant is disqualified, we will share as much information about the reason for the disqualification as the steering committee deems appropriate.
Individuals who have been disqualified for any reason are invited to contact NARIX after 6 months after their application was disqualified to discuss what accountability and repair work they have done. The steering committee will evaluate the circumstances and determine whether we feel it is appropriate for them to attend future events.
